As a sales coach I often wonder if certain people really should be in the sales profession.
There are many people that go into sales becasue they like the freedom. They like the idea that a car comes with the job. And a myriad of other reasons.
Do they actually like the job. ?
My first sales boss once told me something that I absolutely belive to be true.
“Sales is the easiest job in the world if you work it hard, but the hardest job in the world if you try to work it easy.”
I read an article recently that basically stated that we have only so much will power to last us through each and every day. Every time we will ourselves to do something it makes a withdrawal from our will power account. The article went on to say that this is why it’s important to be passionate about your job. That way you are doing something becasue you love to and not drawing down on your will power account. Makes sense to me.
So, to do well at selling you have to want to do it, you have to be passionate about serving people.
